PHILADELPHIA - Haverford College Men's and Women's Squash head Coach Niki Clement teamed up with program alumni and current women's volunteer assistant coach Tate Miller '20 at the United States Mixed Doubles Championships in Philadelphia earlier this month. The matches took place at the Specter Center in University City. The pairing of Clement/Miller won the consolation bracket, finishing as the ninth-best team in the nation with a 3-0 win over Chris (Franklin & Marshall '12) and Chelsea Gagnier (Franklin & Marshall '13) in the consolation final.

Over the course of the national tournament, the duo played some marathon matches. They had four different games go to 14-14 and won all of them. (Interestingly, doubles squash is played three games to 15, not 11 like singles play. If both teams get to 14-14 , only 15 points are required, unlike singles which requires a player to win by two points in each game.)

The Specter Center is housed in the historic Pennsylvania State Armory Building on Drexel University's campus and Philadelphia's burgeoning University City. As the new home of squash in the U.S, the 20-court facility also houses the U.S. Squash Hall of Fame, a high-performance training center for Team USA athletes, the US Squash National Headquarters, and a Learning & Innovation Center through which SquashSmarts expanded its intensive out-of-school academic and athletic mentoring program. The Specter Center hosts numerous local, national, and international competitions throughout the year, and hosts the nation's first public school squash league with ten new school teams from throughout the city limits of Philadelphia.
