Fords edge Mules, 5-4

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Haverford College women's tennis team edged host Muhlenberg College, 5-4, on Tuesday evening in Centennial Conference action to register its seventh victory in its last eight contests.

Alex Ferrara delivered the winning point of the tightly-contested match against the Mules (2-7, 2-3 CC) with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Emily Szulman at No. 2 singles. Ferrara's straight-set win was the Fords' third point from singles action as Kate Donches and Caitlin Gallagher also earned victories.

Donches, playing at No. 6, won her second consecutive match with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Gabriela Contino.

Moving to 12-0 in singles action this spring, Gallagher rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Nina Sanders.

The third doubles pairing of Kristen Andersen and Rachal Torg provided Haverford (9-3, 5-1) with the early 1-0 lead in the match with an 8-1 win over Amanda von Taube and Contino.

Robyn Himelstein and Celia Tong, playing at No. 2 doubles, accounted for the Fords' second point with an 8-5 victory over Jennifer Goldberg and Sharen Resnikoff.

Haverford, the 12th ranked team in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Atlantic South Region, travels to Dickinson College on Saturday in the last of three straight road contests. The conference match against the Red Devils, ranked 20th in the Atlantic South, begins at 1 p.m.
