Women's Tennis Concludes Play at USTA/ITA Regional

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Haverford College women's tennis team wrapped up play at the USTA/ITA Southeast Regional Championships on Sunday. The Fords' day two action was highlighted by three singles players and one doubles pairing making a run into the third round of consolations in their respective championship draws.

Freshman Rory Lewis racked up a perfect 2-0 record on Sunday to cap her first ITA regional. Lewis' day got started with a walkover victory against Juniata's Lauren Lucas. After a bye in the second round, Lewis capped her tournament with an 8-5 win against Arya Jewel from rival Swarthmore.

Greta Koch also notched a win against her Swarthmore counterpart on Sunday morning as she topped the Garnet's Rachel Hechinger by an 8-5 final before being edged out by Washington & Lee's Melinda Kauffman in the third round of consolations. The doubles pairing of Robyn Himelstein and Koch, along with Caroline Steliotes in singles, received walkover victories during their first round consolation matches. Each saw their tournament come to a close in the third round after both received second round byes.

Women's tennis will wrap up the fall portion of its schedule with its annual Alumnae Match next Saturday at 11 a.m.
