ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Haverford College women's tennis team won its sixth straight match with a 5-0 victory at Muhlenberg on Tuesday evening. Playing to decision once again, the Fords (6-1, 2-0 CC) needed the minimum five matches to record their second straight conference victory.

The No. 1 doubles pairing of Jane Bary and Emily Shutman did not allow a single game to the Mules' top pairing with an 8-0 victory. The Bary/Shutman pairing has now won three straight matches together and is 5-2 this spring. As a team, Haverford is 16-5 across all the three doubles positions.

The Nos. 2 and 3 pairings both won by identical 8-2 scores. In the middle doubles match, Julia Gan and Greta Koch remained unbeaten together as they are a perfect 5-0 at No. 2 doubles. First years Ananya Prakash and Natalie Williams played together and won for the second straight match. After a win at No. 2 against McDaniel over the weekend, the pairing moved to No. 3 tonight in its convincing win.

Needing just two wins in singles to seal the team victory, Haverford got those in the form of 6-0, 6-0 wins from both Julia Gan and Emily Shutman. After not allowing her Muhlenberg opponent a single game, Gan has a team-high seven singles wins dating back to the fall. She is 3-2 this spring at No. 1 in dual matches. Shutman blanked her opponent at the No. 3 position in the lineup. She has won five straight matches this spring.

Looking to close down a win at No. 2 singles was Jane Bary. Bary went up 6-0 in her first set and was leading 4-1 in the second before the match reached decision. The Nos. 4 through 6 players of Clara Farrehi, Sam Berg, and Izzy Angstman did not even reach the court as the match was decided before their spot in the lineup was up.

Women's tennis will now face back-to-back matches as TCNJ comes to campus on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. non-conference match. Centennial Conference play will resume for the Fords next Wednesday, April 4 when the team hosts Washington College in a 4 p.m. start.
