GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Haverford College women's tennis team built up a 7-1 lead at Gettysburg on Saturday before rain caused the final match on court to remain unfinished. The Fords (12-3, 8-2 CC) started the day by taking two of the three doubles matches and won all five of the completed singles contests to head into the Centennial Conference Tournament riding a three-match winning streak.

Haverford's No. 3 pairing of Clara Farrehi and Natalie Williams did not allow a game during the regular season finale. That duo is now 3-0 this spring with each of its victories coming against Centennial Conference opposition. Jane Bary and Emily Shutman allowed just two games during the second doubles match, guaranteeing the Fords a lead heading into singles. That duo finished the regular season with nine victories together and is 2-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Gettysburg salvaged its lone point of the doubles competition with an 8-4 victory at the No. 1 match. Despite today's result, the Julia Gan/Greta Koch pairing won eight matches together during the regular season, including four against conference foes.

The Fords' five victories in singles all came in straight sets. Julia Gan did not allow a single game to her opponent, the fourth time she has blanked an opponent this year. The No. 21 player in the Atlantic South Region rankings now has nine wins. At No. 2 singles, Jane Bary was a 6-1, 6-1 winner and concludes the regular season with a 12-3 record. She went a perfect 8-0 against conference opponents and holds a 9-0 record at the second slot in the lineup this spring. Bary has won 12 straight matches entering the postseason.

Greta Koch was a 6-3, 6-2 winner and has 11 victories to date this season. She finished the regular season with a 6-2 record against her conference opponents. Emily Shutman won her team-leading 13th singles match on Saturday, allowing just one game during the second set. Shutman posted an 8-1 record against Centennial Conference opposition.

Haverford got a 7-5, 6-2 win from Sam Berg at No. 6 singles. Berg went 8-3 this spring, including a 5-1 record against her conference foes. Clara Farrehi was unable to finish her match at No. 5 singles. Down a set, Farrehi was locked in a 5-4 second set battle before the rains came and forced her match to go unfinished. Even with the incomplete result today, she has nine victories this season and went 5-2 against Centennial Conference competition.

With the conclusion of regular season action around the Centennial Conference this weekend, Haverford will now face Swarthmore in the Centennial Conference semifinals next Saturday with the match-up pitting the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds. The start time of that semifinal will be announced on Monday morning.
