Women's Tennis Ranked Ninth in Year-End Atlantic South Rankings

HAVERFORD, Pa. - In the final release of the 2022 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Women's Division III Regional Rankings, unveiled earlier this month, the Haverford College women's tennis team checks in at No. 9 in the Atlantic South regional rankings. 

Haverford, behind Centennial foes No. 7 Johns Hopkins and No. 8 Swarthmore, ranks ahead of conference foes No. 16 Washington College and No. 18 Franklin & Marshall. In addition to the team ranking, Abbey Russano checks in as the No. 21 player in that loaded Atlantic South grouping. 

The Fords made a repeat appearance in the national rankings this season, as Haverford posted the highest national ranking in program history (35th). Haverford finished the season 12-7 overall, including a 7-2 record in Centennial Conference action. The Fords went 4-2 at home, 4-2 on the road, and 4-3 at neutral sites. 

Russano played No. 1 singles and doubles for Haverford this spring, earning first-team All-Centennial Conference in singles and second-team honors in doubles. The Bridgewater, N.J. product went 13-6 in singles this season, including a 6-2 mark in CC play and a 6-1 mark at the top flight.
