STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Haverford College women's indoor track & field team kicked off its spring semester schedule at the NYC Gotham Cup on Friday afternoon. A sizable contingent of Fords made the trip north to the Ocean Breeze Complex as Haverford returned with five top-10 finishes in the prestigious meet.

Haverford started the day strong as two of those top 10 showings came in the first event with Izzy Miller and Natalia Cordon placing fifth and sixth overall in the 5,000 meters, posting times of 18:45.73 and 18:53.70. That started a strong day overall in the distance events. Amalia Axinn turned in the 10th quickest time in school history during a 10th-place finish in the non-traditional 1,000 meter race (3:16.70). Axinn won her heat to earn the top-10 placement.

Sheena Dwyer-McNulty led a trio of Fords in the 3,000 meter race with a time of 10:45.61 as she placed 12th overall. Angie Petrichenko (11:00.96) and Cate Tomson (11:31.74) turned in respective 15th and 18th place times. Closing the day in the relays, Haverford's DMR of Griffin Kaulbach, Edna Creelman, Lauren Tanel, and Hannah Doll placed fourth overall with a time of 13:26.97.

In the middle distance events, Kaulbach got her day started with an 11th place time of 5:19.48 in the mile. Jolie Jaycobs won the second heat of that event in a time of 5:24.42 to place right behind her teammate. Lauren Tanel led three more Fords in the 800 meters (2:34.06) to place 27th overall. Marly Banatte (2:50.25) and Sophie Schleifer (2:53.37) also contested that event.

In Haverford's very last event, the Fords' 4x400 relay of Jessica Lopez, Jahsaiah Moses, Ruanna Small, and Jasmine Reed crossed the line in 10th place with a time of 4:25.55. Small led the Fords in the 400 meters with a time of 1:05.07 while Grace Pindzola crossed the line in 1:15.09. Reed led the 200 meter contingent with a time of 28.36 seconds. Marisa Antinori had a busy day overall as she competed in both the 60 meter dash (8.74 seconds) and 200 meters (29.43 seconds).

Both Moses and Antinori also entered the long jump. Moses was 14th overall with her best leap being marked at 4.89 meters (16'-0.5"), just inches short of a top 10 performance in school history. Antinori's best jump marked at 4.40 meters (14'-5.25"). Already ranked in the top 10 in school history for the shot put, Mari Horton (9.88m; 32'-5") and Unique Tuberville (9.82m; 32'-2.75") got their spring seasons off to strong starts. Tuberville, also the school record holder in the weight throw, debuted with a distance of 12.40 meters (40'-8.25") in that event.

With the spring schedule about to ramp up, the Fords will return to action next Saturday, January 25 for the Ursinus Invitational which will get underway at 10 a.m. in Collegeville.
