Women's Track & Field Posts Strong Marks at Tufts Cupid Challenge

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Haverford College women's indoor track & field team made the journey to Tufts this weekend to take part in the Cupid Challenge on Saturday. The event was not team scored, but the Fords did come away with six top-10 finishes throughout the very challenging event.

Haverford's 4x200 relay got the day off to a great start as it posted the top time in the Centennial Conference to date as the team of Marisa Antinori, Jessica Lopez, Jahsaiah Moses, and Jasmine Reed pushed the baton across the line in a time of 1:51.33. Those individuals also excelled in their individual events as well.

In her season debut, Lopez made the semifinals of the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.27 seconds before placing 13th overall. Moses led the Fords in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.77 seconds while also placing 17th in the long jump with a mark of 4.57 meters (15'-0"). Antinori contested both the long jump (4.39 meters; 14'-5") and 60 meter dash dash (8.66 seconds). Adding to the field event success, Unique Tuberville unleashed her longest shot put toss of the season with her best throw measuring 10.67 meters (35'-0.25") as she placed eighth. Tuberville was also 11th overall in the hammer throw (12.29m; 40'-4").

Competing in the 5,000 meters, Izzy Miller and Angie Petrichenko were Haverford's highest individual placers of the day. Miller crossed the line in a time of 18:35.33 to finish fourth while Petrichenko was just two spots behind her in sixth (18:45.46).

Jolie Jaycobs' career-best time of 2:25.56 in the 800 meters placed her ninth overall. Five different Fords entered that event with Amalia Axinn (2:28.69), Hannah Doll (2:30.59), Lauren Tanel (2:35.17), and Sophie Schleifer (2:44.00) also joining that field. Griffin Kaulbach led the Haverford contingent in the mile with a time of 5:22.25 to finish 11th. Sheena Dwyer-McNulty (5:24.03) won her mile heat and placed 13th overall while Doll competed in the 800/mile double and turned in a personal-best time of 5:24.84 in the longer event. Cate Tomson also cracked the top 20 individuals with a time of 5:43.02. Marly Banatte was Haverford's lone entrant in the 400 meters, finishing with a time of 1:10.56.

With just three more weeks before the Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, Haverford will be at home inside the Alumni Field House to undergo its final preparations for the championship over the next two weekends. Next Saturday, February 15 the Fords will host the McElligott Invitational with action set to get underway at 10 a.m.
