ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Haverford College women's track & field team wrapped up day two of the Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships with five more scoring performances and three individuals who qualified to event finals. Heading into the final day of the championship meet, the Fords are still sitting in fourth place in the team standings and have accumulated 30.5 points with the big scoring day on Sunday yet to come.

Haverford's big scoring individual event on Saturday came in the steeplechase as the Fords swept the sixth through ninth place positions with a strong team effort. Mckenna Krall led Haverford's steeplechase pack with a time of 12:33.79 to place sixth overall. The Fords ended up sweeping the final three scoring positions as Sophie Schleifer (12:39.07) and Annie Connolly-Sporing (12:41.02) also picked up top eight finishes. Zoe Arditi was right behind that trio in ninth with a time of 12:47.81.

Haverford's fourth scoring individual on the day was Louise Bednarik as she wrapped up the heptathlon on Saturday morning. Bednarik finished the multi-event with a total score of 2,622 points to place seventh overall. Her big point event on Saturday was the 800 meters as she finished in a time of 2:45.11.

The Fords closed the day with a third-place finish in the 4x800 relay which crossed the line in a time of 9:28.10. That team of Amalia Axinn, Jolie Jaycobs, Griffin Kaulbach, and Sophie Drew scored six team points for the Fords as it became the sixth-fastest 4x800 relay in Haverford history.

Qualifying to event finals and setting themselves up for scoring performances on Sunday were Jessica Lopez (100, 200 meter dashes) and Tess Oberholtzer (100 meter hurdles). Lopez was second in the 100 meter dash qualifying with a time of 12.43 seconds. That time was over a tenth of a second better than her previous best as she is now just four-hundredths of a second away from the school record. Lopez was also sixth in the 200 meter heats with a time of 26.33 seconds. Oberholtzer was the fourth-fastest qualifier in the 100 meter hurdles as she crossed the line with a time of 16.21 seconds.

Also on the track Saturday afternoon, Grace Pindzola was the Fords' lone entrant in the 400 meter hurdles, placing 11th in those heats with a time of 1:17.50. Julia Coletti was 14th in the 400 meter heats with a mark of 1:02.32, while Lauren Tanel led the Fords in the 800 meters as she too placed 14th (2:29.02) in her event.

The only field event in which the Fords contested Saturday was the long jump. Fiona Flynn led those efforts with a leap of 4.72 meters (15'-6") to place 11th. Teammate Kerry Quigley was 13th in that same event (4.51 meters; 14'-9.75").

Set up for success on Sunday with today's qualifiers, along with other events that are finals only, Haverford wraps up the 2019 Centennial Conference Championships tomorrow. Action gets underway at 11 a.m. with the women's javelin competing in the field while the 4x100 relay goes off at that same time on the track.
