HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's track & field team has been named a 2018-19 All-Academic Team as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). This marks the 13th time in the past 14 seasons the Fords have earned this honor since the association combined the indoor and outdoor season into one award.

Haverford was one of the women's teams across NCAA Division III that earned a team GPA of 3.10 or higher. The Fords' team GPA ranked inside the top 20 in all of Division III. Leading the way in academic honors is nothing new to the program as Haverford had 22 student-athletes honored on the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll during both the indoor and outdoor track & field seasons.

The award also marks one final accolade in the decorated career of recent graduate Sophie Drew '19 as she garnered USTFCCCA Scholar Athlete status. To qualify for this honor, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30. The student-athlete must also have competed in either the indoor or outdoor NCAA track championships or finished a season ranked in the top 50 nationally in an individual event or top 35 in a relay event.

Drew earned the first USTFCCCA Scholar Athlete honor of her track & field career after qualifying for the Division III 1,500 meter outdoor championships. She was also a two-time USTFCCCA Scholar Athlete during her cross country career. Haverford's senior captain, who held a double major in biology and Spanish, was also named an Ambler Scholar-Athlete for having one of the top cumulative GPAs among all of the Fords' senior student-athletes. Drew capped her career as a two-time NCAA qualifier, a three-time All-Mideast selection, and a six-time All-Centennial Conference performer across all three seasons. Drew was part of Haverford's Centennial Conference Championship distance medley relay during her first-year and was the conference runner-up in the 1,500 meters this past spring in addition to being on four different all-conference relays throughout her career.
