Two Haverford Top 10's Highlight Widener Final Qualifier

CHESTER, Pa. – The Haverford College women's track & field team competed in the Widener Final Qualifier Meet on Monday afternoon at Widener University, giving athletes one last chance to qualify for the upcoming NCAA Championships. The meet was highlighted by new Haverford top-10 finishes in the 800 meters and the 3000-meter steeplechase.

History was made once again in the 800 meters, as Anastasia Jaycobs recorded a new personal-best time of 2:15.04, placing the sophomore sixth all-time in Haverford history in the process. Junior Carly Priest finished 45th with a time of 2:25.94, while Sophia Furman placed 50th with a personal-best time of 2:32.90.

In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Savannah Shaw crossed the line in 14th with a personal-best time of 11:42.61. With that mark, she now ranks 10th all-time in program history. Dalia Smid followed in 18th with a time of 13:39.60. The meet began with the 100-meter prelims, where Nadine Tang clocked a time of 13.26 to place 22nd.

In the 400-meter hurdles, senior Rachel November recorded a time of 1:09.47 to finish 16th. In the 100-meter hurdles, Beatrice Di Girolamo notched 14th place with a personal-best time of 16.27.

Haverford had two competitors in the 400 meters. Olivia D'Aulerio placed sixth with a time of 58.75, while Abigail Miyake crossed the line in 18th with a time of 1:14.11.

In the 1500 meters, Maia Poremba posted a personal-best time of 4:57.32 for 34th place. Jessie Hausman followed in 39th, also with a personal-best time of 5:05.88. Bianca Ortiz recorded a personal best of 5:17.37 for 42nd place, while Natalie Kruglyak added another personal best in 44th with a time of 5:41.85. Claire Parsons rounded out the group with Haverford's fifth personal best in the event, finishing 45th in 5:50.86.

In the long jump, Di Girolamo earned yet another personal best, leaping 4.96 meters (16 feet, 3 inches) to place 14th. Right behind her was Grace Hannigan, who jumped 4.91 meters (16 feet, 1 inch) for 15th place. Ella Fleming followed in 18th with a jump of 4.60 meters (15 feet, 1 inch). Hannigan also competed in the triple jump, securing 10th place with a leap of 10.83 meters (35 feet, 6 inches).

In the throwing venue, Sarah Wilcher represented the Fords in the discus . The junior launched the discus 33.99 meters (111 feet, 6 inches) to finish 12th overall.

Capping off the day, Summer Ryan competed in the javelin throw. The senior tossed the javelin 30.33 meters (99 feet, 6 inches) to earn ninth place.

The top 22 declared athletes in each individual event will qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The official selection announcement is slated for Friday, May 16. The NCAA Outdoor Championships will take place from Thursday, May 22 to Saturday, May 24 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
