The Haverford College Department of Athletics announced the hiring of Matt Nissenfeld as the new Assistant Director of Athletic Communications in September of 2023. Nissenfeld arrived to Haverford College after spending several years behind the scenes in the sports industry.

Nissenfeld began his career at Widener University where he graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication. While attending Widener, Nissenfeld spent four years assisting Widener Pride athletics, mainly in the broadcasting department. Aside from spending two seasons as the Widener Pride Baseball PA announcer, and a year as the Widener Men's and Women's Soccer play-by-play and PA announcer, Nissenfeld was the main play-by-play announcer for Widener Pride basketball for four seasons. In 2017, Nissenfeld's call on a game tying half court shot won the 2017 Geico Basketball Play of the Year which was played on CBS before the Elite Eight of March Madness.

In 2018, Nissenfeld spent his spring semester as a digital content intern with the Philadelphia Union. Tasks included writing game previews, writing post game recaps, and writing informational pieces on several Philadelphia Union players.

After his time at Widener, Nissenfeld worked at multiple soccer facilities around the Pennsylvania area. Most notably, Nissenfeld comes to Haverford College after spending a year and a half as the Assistant General Manager at Select Soccer Center. At Select Soccer, Nissenfeld handled marketing and social media efforts, and played a big part in the growth of Select Soccer Center as they transitioned from year one to year two.

Over the past three years, Nissenfeld has served as a play-by-play announcer for Saint Joseph's University on ESPN Plus. In his time on Hawk Hill, Nissenfeld became a mainstay broadcaster for their Men's and Women's Soccer teams, Softball and Baseball teams, and their Women's Lacrosse team. Being a play-by-play broadcaster with the Hawks, Nissenfeld would constantly prepare for games by writing player facts, updating stats, and creating matchup previews.

"I absolutely cannot wait to get started working for Haverford College Athletics," Nissenfeld said. "I can't thank Haverford enough for giving me this opportunity, and giving me the chance to help connect all of these wonderful student-athletes and teams Haverford has to a broader audience."

"I'd like to thank Danielle Lynch, Dave Beccaria, and Curran McCauley for helping me along the way, and giving me this extraordinary opportunity," Nissenfeld exclaimed." "I am extremely grateful for this chance, and I can't wait to be a part of the Haverford College family. Go Fords!"

While at Haverford, Nissenfeld will help cover all 23 varsity athletic teams. He will be recapping games and achievements earned by student-athletes, keeping fans up to date throughout games by providing live stats, and promoting games and student athletes through multiple forms of media.

Residing in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, Nissenfeld spends his spare time watching and rooting on the Philadelphia Union, whom he is a die-hard fan of.
