Field Hockey Seniors Sweep Centennial Conference Weekly Awards

Full Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford field hockey senior captains Ravenel Davis and Julie Post have been named Centennial Conference Field Hockey Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced in a release on Tuesday. The Fords have sprinted out to a 5-0 start to begin the season, matching the start of the 2017 squad that reached the Centennial Conference semifinals.

Davis tallied the game-winner in each of Haverford's three victories as the Fords improved to 5-0 on the season. She opened the week by recording her first career hat-trick in the 4-0 win over Immaculata. She followed up that performance with the overtime sudden-victory winner in a 3-2 triumph over DeSales, sprinting down the field and going coast-to-coast for the score unassisted in the 7v7 period.

The senior captain then put a flourish on an already fantastic week with a pair of goals in the road contest against Juniata, including the game-winner in the Saturday matinee. She currently leads the conference in goals (7) and is second in points (14). The Richmond, Va. native last earned CC Offensive Player of the Week during her rookie campaign in 2018.

Post helped anchor the back line for the Fords as Haverford limited its three opponents to three goals and just 13 shots in a perfect week. Post and the Fords defense stymied attacking attempts from both Immaculata (1 shot allowed) and Juniata (2 shots). The Fords have allowed less than five shots in three different games this season. This is the first weekly honor for the Ann Arbor, Mich. native who took home Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll in each of the past two years and NFHCA Academic Squad recognition in each of the last three seasons.

The Fords will now put that unblemished record on the line as they begin a homestand on Wednesday, taking on Elizabethtown at 5 p.m. The contest serves as a prelude to Saturday's matinee at home against No. 8 Rowan, with first pass slated for 1 p.m. on Swan Field.
