Field Hockey Taking Home Votes in NFHCA Poll Entering Conference Showdowns

Full NFHCA Poll Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College field hockey team continues to receive votes in the NFHCA Division III National Coaches Poll, with the Fords garnering a total of 123 points, the most of any team not ranked within the top 20 squads. Haverford is out to an 8-0 start to the 2021 season, and has matched the program's longest winning streak, set almost 31 years ago in October of 1990.

The Fords are one of five teams listed in the also receiving votes category, edging out 6-2 Centre College and 7-0 University of Scranton. In total, the Fords are one of 11 teams in the nation that remain undefeated. Haverford has sprinted out to its hot start thanks in part to a well-rounded defensive unit that ranks 10th in the nation in goals against average as the Fords have a surrendered less than a goal per contest so far in 2021. Haverford also has found the ability to set up strong chances in the attacking third, as the team ranks 10th in NCAA Division III in penalty corners earned per contest.

Offensively, Ravenel Davis has been a standout on the attack line, earning her second Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor of the young season on Tuesday. She currently leads the Centennial Conference in goals (12), points (26), and shots (45). In the latest release of the national statistical rankings, Davis is fifth in all of NCAA in goals per game (1.5) and seventh in points per game (3.25).

Middlebury, Johns Hopkins, Tufts, Kean, and Messiah make up the current top five teams in the latest NFHCA poll release.

The Fords next return to action on Wednesday, taking on Bi-Co partner Bryn Mawr in a 4:30 p.m. clash. Haverford will look to get back into the win column against a talented Owls side that captured the last two meetings in the series. The Fords then face off with No. 2 Johns Hopkins in a showdown on Swan Field Saturday. The contest is slated for a 1 p.m. first pass.
