Davis and Roth Tabbed NFHCA All-Region

Full NFHCA Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford College field hockey seniors Ravenel Davis (first team) and Hannah Roth were selected to All-Region V honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA), the organization announced in a release on Monday.

Division III teams are separated into six regions: Region I, Region II, Region III, Region IV, Region V, and Region VI — each region honors up to 16 student-athletes on a first team and up to 16 student-athletes on a second team. The 2021 season represents the first time Haverford has had multiple honorees on an All-Region team since Sarah Waldis and Allison Martin each picked up the honor after the 2015 season.

Davis earned first-team honors, becoming the first Haverford player to earn a slot on the first team since Waldis after that 2015 season. In total, Davis is the eighth Haverford honoree, joining Waldis, Mary Hobbs, Bridget Gibbons, Alex Waleko, and Roxanne Jaffe (three times).

Davis was a prolific offensive performer for Haverford, and made her mark on the box score in almost every contest. She tallied a CC-best 17 goals and matched Player of the Year selection Maddie Brown-Scherer of Johns Hopkins with 36 total points. Davis fired 75 shots and tallied nine game-winning goals in 2021, setting a Haverford program record and matching the CC record.

The Richmond, Va. product was named Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week on three occasions, and was recognized by the NFHCA as an honorable mention for National Player of the Week in September. Davis tallied multiple goals in four contests, including hat tricks against Immaculata (Sept. 6) and Elizabethtown (Sept. 15). The senior co-captain was also named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team.

Roth picked up second-team honors in the cage after posting one of the finest seasons between the pipes in the history of the Haverford program. The senior logged every minute of action at goalkeeper for the Fords, and her save percentage ranks 15th in the nation (.809), while her goals against average is currently 18th in Division III (0.92).

Roth had the rare distinction of picking up two NFHCA National Defensive Player of the Week awards, earning the honor after blanking then-No. 8 Rowan in September and then again after a two-shutout week with eight saves in wins over Washington College and Gettysburg. The remarkable honors followed Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week awards in the same weeks. The Wilmette, Ill. native picked up six total shutouts this season.

Roth leaves Haverford with the fourth-best GAA in program history (1.13), and the sixth-most wins (21). Her save percentage, saves per game, minutes played, games played, and total saves mark all rank within the top 15 in program history while her 12 wins this season is the second-most in program single-season history.

The NFHCA Division III All-Region team announcement is the first in a list of postseason awards to come from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) over the next several weeks. Next to be announced are the NFHCA Regional Players of the Year on November 29, and those honors will be followed by the NFHCA All-American teams on December 14 and the NFHCA National Player of the Year on December 16.
