Six Honored as CSC Academic All-District Selections for Men's Soccer

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's soccer team had six players selected by the College Sports Communications (CSC) as honorees on the CSC Academic All-District team, the organization announced in a release on Wednesday morning. Earning selections in 2023 were Joey Carol, Andrew Fritz, Dylan Ioffreda, Gabe Knopf, Alex Millones, and Max Mouer.

Carol got the starting nod along the backline in all 17 games in 2023, playing a part in all five shutouts recorded in 2023. The center back led all defenders in shots with 11, and tied for second on the team in goals with two.  The junior tied for third on the team in points with four. The Cornelius, N.C. native scored goals in back-to-back games for the Scarlet and Black against William Paterson on September 9, and Rowan on September 10. An impressive 2023 season saw the defender finish the season with 11 shots and three shots on goal.

Fritz saw the pitch in all 17 games this past season, starting in 12 contests.  The Ellicott City Md. product tallied the third-most shots on the team with 19, and had a six shot game vs. Arcadia on September 13. The forward ended his sophomore year with 19 shots and three shots on goal.

Ioffreda, who garnered second-team All-Centennial Conference honors and donned the  captain's armband, started in all 17 games in 2023 between the posts, posting  a 1.12 GAA in 1530:00 of action. He finished second in the Centennial Conference with 63 saves and third in the Centennial Conference with a .768 save percentage. The goalkeeper also placed third in the Centennial Conference with five shutouts. Defending the net, the Hershey, Pa. local recorded five or more saves in eight different games in 2023. Ioffreda collected his  first clean sheet of the season against Dickinson on September 30, and recorded four more including  back-to-back clean sheets against McDaniel on October 14  and Ursinus on October 18. The senior totaled a 5-4-8 record for the Fords in 2023.

Knopf, a New York City native, got the start in all 17 games for the Fords in 2023, recording his lone assist of the season in a 2-0 win against Ursinus on October 18. The forward ended 2023 with 10 shots and two shots on goal.

Millones saw the field in all 17 games his senior season, starting seven matches. He tied for first on the team in goals with three, and tied for second on the team in points with six. The attacker was third on the team in shots on goal with seven. Hailing from Portland, Maine, the senior had a goal in each of the first two games of the season against MIT on September 1, and Susquehanna on September 5. One of the highlights of the season was when Millones scored a headed goal against #9 Franklin and Marshall on September 16. He ended the 2023 season with 13 shots and seven shots on goal.

Earning Honorable Mention All-Centennial Conference, Mouer started and anchored the backline in all 17 games in his senior season. A team captain, the senior led the defense in all five clean sheets, including four shutout victories. The Houston, Texas product finished his senior season with seven shots and one shot on goal.

The 2023 Academic All-District ® Men's Soccer Team, selected by CSC, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division II and NAIA.
