AMHERST, Mass. - Returning to competition for the first time in 2022, the Haverford College men's squash team (4-4) opened up the Pioneer Valley Invitational with a pair of contests, falling to No. 29 Wesleyan by a 7-2 final and No. 28 Hamilton by a 9-0 tally.

Wesleyan 7, Haverford 2

The Fords looked strong at the first two flights, grabbing their match victories on the afternoon at No. 1 and No. 2 on the ladder as Quinton Crawford took a challenge from Shanay Sanghabvi in stride at the top flight, taking relatively straightforward 11-9 and 11-3 game victories before Sanghabvi responded with a 11-6 win. Crawford prevailed in four by an 11-8 final.

Peter Lehv swept past Toby Goldston at the second (11-9, 11-9, 11-3), showing poise against his counterpart from Wesleyan. Noah Tunis was outlated in five games at the third flight, taking the first and third games before his opponent was able to grab 11-7 and 11-8 wins to clinch in the deciding game.

Alden Weinberg also had a strong turn at the seventh flight, skimming the third game from Andrew Doucette (11-5, 11-3, 4-11, 11-9)  while Ben Schiltz dropped an epic 15-13 first game at the third flight.

Hamilton 9, Haverford 0

The Fords struggled to find their footing against the Continentals, with John Collins taking the only individual game win for the Fords. Collins picked up the second game from Nicholas Carabatos in a back-and-forth four-game victory for Hamilton at the sixth flight.

Lehv again looked strong, proving to be a formidable opponent for Waleed Nisar at the second flight to highlight the top three in the nightcap with a narrow 12-10 loss in the third and final game that also saw 11-9 victories for Nisar in the first two frames.

The Fords now return to action tomorrow, wrapping up the Pioneer Valley Invitational with a matchup against tournament host No. 17 Amherst. The contest is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
