Full NCAA Tournament Selection Announcement

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford College senior George Jiang was picked as the third alternate to the 2022 NCAA Division III Singles Championships in Orlando, Florida, the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis committee announced on Wednesday night. Any singles player that scratches from the tournament will be replaced in sequential order by the published list of alternates.

The Tucson, Ariz. product compiled a 7-9 record for the Fords during the dual match season, including a 5-2 mark in Centennial Conference play. Kevin Caulfield was the last Haverford men's player to reach the national tournament, doing so during the 2013 campaign as a senior.

Jiang has ballooned up the ITA rankings to end his final season with the Fords, as of the May 5 release he ranks as the number 10 singles player in the Atlantic South, while Haverford's doubles pairing of Jiang and Stefan Johnson is the 16th-ranked pairing in the region. The ITA rankings are separate from the regional rankings that decide NCAA selections. Jiang entered the Centennial Conference tournament as Region III's number four player in that release.

The individual championships will be May 27-29 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando. The championships are hosted by the United States Tennis Association, Oglethorpe University, and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission.
