HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's tennis team has been selected to finish third in the Centennial Conference Men's Tennis Preseason Poll, the conference office announced on Thursday afternoon. The Fords collected 48 total voting points in the poll. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams.

The Centennial Conference's defending champion, Johns Hopkins has been selected to repeat in the 2023 Centennial Conference Men's Tennis Preseason Poll. The Blue Jays received all eight possible first-place votes and totaled 64 points to earn top billing in the vote among CC head coaches. Swarthmore, nabbed the runner-up spot in the voting with 55 points and the other first-place nod. Haverford (48), Washington College (45) Franklin & Marshall (34), and Gettysburg (27) were also projected playoff teams in third through sixth, respectively.

Ursinus was projected to place seventh with 24 points, followed by Dickinson (19) and Muhlenberg (8). Haverford's Andreas Wingert and Stefan Johnson return from All-Centennial Conference seasons ago under the tutelage of Centennial Conference Coach of the Year Eric Spangler. Spangler earned the award in his first season as the Fords burst onto the national scene with a win over then-No. 12 Johns Hopkins to highlight a hot start to conference play.

Men's Tennis also earned a national ranking off the heels of that historic 2021-22 season. First-year Head Coach Eric Spangler paced Haverford to its highest benchmark national ranking in program history, as the Fords entered the Centennial Conference tournament as the No. 28 team in the nation. Haverford returns 10 players from last season, and adds newcomers Aiden Kim and Niki Lavu to the fold with a solid fall of experience under their belts as the Fords impressed in tournament play.

Men's Tennis will open up the spring season in earnest on Friday, February 24 at home against NYU. The rare evening matchup with the Violets will take place indoors at Alumni Field House at approximately 5 p.m.
