Men's Tennis Defeats Muhlenberg in Convincing Fashion, 9-0

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's tennis team (4-3, 1-0 CC) opened Centennial Conference play with a strong performance indoors at the Alumni Field House, sweeping visiting Muhlenberg (2-3, 0-2 CC) by a 9-0 final.

In doubles play, Haverford earned its first point of the day as the duo of Andreas Wingert and Niki Lavu defeated Derek George and Roy Hsu by an 8-0 score. They continued to roll through the day as the pairing of Aiden Kim and Justin Minerva outlasted Eric Abbud and Isaac Shulman giving the Fords an early 2-0 lead. Haverford secured the third doubles point with Abhinav Nallapareddy and Kirin Eicher taking down Josh Benson and Noah Katz.

As the action moved into singles, James McKenzie opened up with a convincing 6-0, 6-0 win against Abbud 2-0. The next match in Alumni Field House saw Nallapareddy prevail over Shulman 6-1, 6-1 in the third flight to clinch the win for the Fords. The matches to follow allowed Haverford to play freely and within themselves.

Eicher took down Benson 6-1, 6-1 and Danny Loder handled business against Noah Katz 6-0, 6-1 before the action moved to the final two matches of the day.

Max Beckwith swept Derek George 8-0 and Niki Lavu defeated Matthew Wagner 8-0 as both matches shifted to pro sets and brought closure to a productive day on the courts.

It was Haverford's first time back in action since their Spring Break trip to Florida. Dating back to March 6, the Fords have won three of their last four contests.

Haverford now faces a quick turnaround, traveling to take on TCNJ tomorrow. Action in Ewing Township is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
