Men's Track & Field Picked Fifth in Centennial Conference Outdoor Preseason Poll

Full Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's outdoor track & field team has been picked fifth in the CC Preseason Poll, the Centennial Conference announced in a release on Thursday morning. Ursinus was edged by Johns Hopkins for the top spot after the Bears broke a seven-year title streak for the Blue Jays with the 2022 outdoor crown. McDaniel was projected to take third place with 47 points, followed by Dickinson (41) and Haverford (39) in the top five. Muhlenberg (26), Swarthmore (20), Gettysburg (19), and Franklin & Marshall (11) rounded out the preseason rankings, a vote among conference head coaches.

Haverford's Jamie Moreland is the lone returning All-American in the conference following a sixth-place finish in the 1500 meters last spring. At the Centennial meet, Moreland took home the gold in the 1,500 meters to earn first-team honors in that event while also logging a bronze medal finish in the 800 meters.

Ryan Kredell also earned two honors, taking home the silver in the 10,000 meters and the bronze in the 5,000 meters in a solid overall weekend of racing at Ursinus. Haverford finished the two-day meet with a sixth-place showing, tallying 71 points.  Haverford excelled in the middle distance and distance events, with Seamus Fraser tallying a third-place finish in the steeplechase and Max Brelig following Kredell in third during the 10,000 meters held in the pouring rain on the opening Friday of action in Collegeville.

Ursinus will be hosting the Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Patterson Field from May 5 to May 7, 2023. Haverford opens the outdoor season on March 25 with the Ursinus Outdoor Invite.
