Men's Cross Country Earns Academic Plaudits from USTFCCCA

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's cross country team was named one of the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) 2021 Division III Men's All-Academic Teams, the organization announced in a release late last week.

Haverford has an illustrious academic award history as the program has won the overall Scholar Team of the Year three times (2007, 2010, 2011) and has earned the All-Academic Team designation in each year of the award's history dating back to 1996.

To be considered an All-Academic Team, a program must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or greater through its institution's last grading period. 

In addition to the team award, seven members of the Haverford men's cross country team were additionally named All-Academic athletes.  In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet. 

The awardees from Haverford included Max Brelig (Bonnieville, Ky.), Peter Buckley (Athens, Ohio), Miles Colescott (Missoula, Mont.), Amos Karlsen (Sacramento, Calif.), Ryan Kredell (Geneva, Ill.), Peter LaRochelle (Great Barrington, Mass.), and Nico Tripeny (Corning, N.Y.) 

This season represents the first time since 2017 the Fords have had seven honorees on the USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes list. Overall, there were 248 men from 91 different institutions who were named All-Academic Athletes for their efforts during the 2021 cross country season.
