Abby Marquis Named CC Player of the Week

Full Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford junior catcher/infielder Abby Marquis has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. The weekly award win is the first of Marquis' career.

The Albuquerque, N.M. product was a catalyst for the Haverford offense, slashing .583/.667/1.167 as the Fords started CC play with doubleheaders against Ursinus and Dickinson. She logged three doubles and scored two runs in a victory over Ursinus in the first CC game of the year for the Fords, and followed that up with a double and a home run in a win over Dickinson. She tallied 14 total bases and five extra-base hits, with four doubles and a home run, while also scoring five times and driving in three runs. Behind the dish, she caught three runners stealing and played an error free week while anchoring the pitching staff.

Marquis is currently second in the conference in batting average (.477) and slugging percentage (.723) and leads the conference in doubles (13). She also has been a stalwart defensively behind the dish guiding a young pitching staff, as she has caught the most runners stealing in the conference (6).
