BRYN MAWR, Pa. - In its final Centennial Conference contest of the 2022 calendar year, the Haverford College women's basketball team (7-3, 5-1 CC) led wire-to-wire in a convincing 66-26 victory over the host Owls of Bryn Mawr (2-7, 0-5 CC) Wednesday night at the Class of 1958 Gymnasium.

Kayla Robinson posted yet another double-double effort in the triumph, with 15 points and 10 rebounds to her ledger to lead all scorers. Gia Flamini added 14 points and five steals while Ally Landau contributed seven points, four steals, and four assists.

Haverford jetted out to a sizable lead after the first 20 minutes of play, with a tidy 24-2 run to begin the contest. The methodical spurt was punctuated by a layup by Abby Ryan with 7:53 left in the first quarter. A triple from Flamini later put the Fords up 31-7, and Haverford headed into the halftime break with a commanding 35-7 lead following back-to-back buckets from Robinson and Flamini.

The Fords extended the lead out to 44-9 after Abby Ryan connected on a jumper with 5:36 to go in the third quarter, and the visitors were able to cruise from there, with the lead hitting its apex of 41 points with 2:04 remaining in regulation.

In the fourth quarter, Haverford was able to mix in some reserves that saw their first extended minutes of the season. Michela Jones notched four points in that stretch, including a three-pointer, while Abigail Clark also connected from deep in the fourth. Zoe Carlson added five rebounds in a reserve role and Caroline Haynes notched two points and two rebounds in her six minutes.

A major story of the contest was the advantage on the glass as the Fords held a 49-30 edge in rebounds and were able to put the Owls off guard all night long, turning in some long possessions in key moments. Haverford turned 29 Bryn Mawr turnovers into 33 points and recorded 17 second-chance points while surrendering just four to the Owls. Jessica Smith poured in 14 points for the hosts, adding five rebounds.

The Fords will now wrap up the 2022 portion of the campaign with a Saturday non-conference matinee at Alvernia. The contest is slated to begin at 1 p.m. in Reading, Pennsylvania. The two programs have not faced off since the 1996-97 season.
