NCAA Tournament History

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's lacrosse team, ranked No. 22 in the latest IWLCA Poll, has earned an at-large bid to the 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championships. The Fords (12-5, 7-2 CC) will travel to Ithaca, N.Y. for an NCAA First Round contest against the Cavaliers of Cabrini, the champions of the Atlantic East Conference. The NCAA tournament appearance is the first for the Haverford program since 1991.

Haverford will take on an experienced squad in the first round, and one that it is no stranger to, as the sides have played nine times in program history, with the Fords holding an 8-1 edge in that series. The sides met yearly from 2013-2019, with Haverford taking a 21-19 matchup in the last meeting on March 9, 2019 at Swan Field. Haverford has played Ithaca just twice in program history, with the last meeting between the two sides occurring on a neutral site in 1999.

The winner of the Haverford/Cabrini contest will advance to take on the host Bombers of Ithaca College, who enter as the No. 10 team in the nation following a loss in the Liberty League Championship Game to William Smith. Ithaca posted a 16-3 record this season, setting a new school record for wins. Ithaca is making its second consecutive NCAA tournament trip, but will be hosting for the first time since the 1993 season.

The Fords solidified their position in the field with victories over regionally ranked squads Scranton (No. 9, Region IV), Christopher Newport (No. 5, Region V), and St. Mary's of Maryland (No. 9, Region VI) this season. Haverford has only dropped games to nationally ranked opponents.

More information on the NCAA tournament, including game times and a full preview, will be available later this week. Fans are encouraged to follow @HCFords_Sports on Twitter and @HCFordsSports on Instagram for the latest updates on postseason action.
