Hladky Named Midfielder of the Year, Women's Lacrosse Places Four on All-CC Teams

All-Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Four members of the Haverford College women's lacrosse team have earned spots on the 2022 All-Centennial Conference teams, the conference office announced in its annual postseason awards release on Tuesday afternoon.

Senior midfielder Roma Hladky was named the conference's Midfielder of the Year, joining senior classmate defender Maria Krieg and junior attacker Katharine Ference on the first team. In addition, senior Callie Crawford was named an All-second team selection. Nancy Tucker earned a spot on the All-Conference Sportsmanship team. The 2022 season represents the first time the Fords have placed three members on the CC first team.

Hladky, of Randolph, N.J. earned her first selection to the first team after a spirited campaign in which she led the Centennial Conference in goals (57), including a CC-best 36 in conference competition. In addition to that tally, she posted multiple goals in all but one game this season, including a season-best seven on two occasions, reaching that mark against Washington College (Apr. 16) and Swarthmore (Apr. 23). Hladky was a force on draws as well, with multiple draw controls won in 13 games, and multiple ground balls on five occasions. Hladky is Haverford's first Player of the Year award winner since Lindsey Carey was named to that designation in 2000.

Krieg, of Farmingdale, N.Y. has emerged as a lockdown defender for the Fords during her senior season, as she has started all 17 games thus far, collecting 45 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers while also grabbing four draw controls. Krieg is third in the Centennial in ground balls and 20th in caused turnovers.

Ference, from Sewickley, Pa. took the Centennial by storm in her junior season, becoming the top helper in the conference with 47 total assists and 22 goals during her 17 games started. She enters the NCAA tournament with 69 points, good for third in the Centennial Conference overall and 47 points in conference games. She also has a knack for earning possession in big moments, with 72 draw controls. That total is a Haverford single-season program record. She also earned the Haverford single-game record with a whopping 12 draw control wins in the CC semifinal loss to Franklin & Marshall, shattering the previous mark of nine held by her teammate Crawford.

Crawford, of Queenstown, Md. enters the NCAA tournament with 50 goals, good for sixth in the Centennial Conference. She has converted on 14-of-21 free-position strikes, good for third in the CC, while scooping 15 ground balls and causing 15 turnovers as a key cog in the offense. Her 56 points this season is good for 8th overall in the conference, with 34 of those coming during Centennial play.

Tucker has appeared in 15 games this season, starting four while scoring six goals and adding three assists while scooping one ground ball and causing one turnover. She has fired nine shots on frame in that stretch.

Haverford has qualified for the NCAA tournament for the first time since the 1991 season, finishing the year with a 12-5 overall record as the Fords solidified their position in the field with victories over regionally ranked squads Scranton (No. 9, Region IV), Christopher Newport (No. 5, Region V), and St. Mary's of Maryland (No. 9, Region VI) this season. Haverford has only dropped games to nationally ranked opponents. The Fords battle Cabrini on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Higgins Stadium in Ithaca, N.Y.
