No. 23 Women's Lacrosse Races Past Greyhounds, 22-12

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The No. 23 Haverford College women's lacrosse team (10-5) secured a non-conference victory over Moravian (8-8), triumphing with a 22-12 score at Makuvek Field Wednesday evening.

First-year Daniela Martini delivered a stellar performance, establishing a new program record with eight assists and adding one goal, totaling nine points. Kylie McNamara contributed four goals, while Brooke Epstein reached the 100-point milestone as just a sophomore, with a hat-trick and two assists.

In total, 12 different Haverford players contributed goals, with Sophie Jaffe scoring three, and Kylie Kearon, Tiffany Mikulis, and Louisa Coughlin each tallying twice. Lizzie Symonds made six saves during her 36 minutes in goal, before Annie Bravacos took over for the final 23 minutes between the pipes. 

McNamara and Reilly Curran each secured four draw controls, while five different Haverford players recorded multiple ground balls. Lauren Paprocki stood out with three caused turnovers, with Lauren Anderson adding two.

Both teams started slowly offensively, but Haverford then jetted out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Epstein and McNamara. Although Melissa Elefonte narrowed the gap to 3-2 for the Greyhounds, Haverford responded with three consecutive goals, extending their lead to 7-3 with McNamara's goal with 12:09 remaining in the first half.

Moravian managed to pull back to within three at 7-4 with a player-up goal from Alex Cherenson, but Haverford regained control with a 5-1 run, leading 12-5 as Martini assisted McNamara, Epstein, and Mikulis during a fast-paced stretch for the visitors. 

The third quarter saw Haverford continue their dominance with an early 3-0 run, featuring goals from Ellie Hughes, Coughlin, and Abby Bonner, with Martini adding her own unassisted goal. Jaffe's first goal triggered a running clock with 7:12 remaining in the third.

Moravian attempted another comeback, narrowing the gap to eight with another player-up goal from Cherenson, but Bella Gattuso and Curran responded with consecutive goals, again triggering the running clock. Elefonte interrupted it with a goal at 5:09, but Kearon extended Haverford's lead to 10 with a free-position goal before Jaffe completed her hat-trick in the final moments.

Haverford dominated in ground balls with a 16-9 advantage and scored 22 goals on just 30 shots. Cherenson led the Greyhounds with six goals, while Elefonte contributed a hat-trick.

The Fords have wrapped up the three seed in the Centennial Conference tournament, which begins next week. Haverford's next contest is on Saturday for the regular season finale at Swarthmore. The Hood Trophy rivalry contest with the Garnet will kick off at noon on Clothier Field at the Swarthmore campus.
