Women’s Lacrosse Lands Five on All-Centennial Honors List

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's lacrosse team had five players pick up 2024 All-Centennial Conference honors, the Centennial Conference announced in a release Tuesday afternoon. Brooke Epstein, Tiffany Mikulis, and Eva Baumann earned All-Centennial Conference first team recognition, while Lizzie Healy picked up a spot on the All-Centennial Conference second team, and first-year goalkeeper Lizzie Symonds notched an All-Centennial Conference honorable mention nod. 

Ranking in the top five of the Centennial Conference offensively, Epstein started all 18 games for Haverford and  led the Fords in points (80), goals (60), and free-position goals (14). The sophomore from Hillsborough, N.C. recorded eight games this season with at least four goals, including a six-goal outburst against McDaniel on April 6. She added five goals against then-No. 2 Franklin & Marshall on April 20. Epstein has been among the most prolific scorers in the nation as she ranks in the top 100 for goals (82nd) and points (84th) among all of Division III. 

Coming off a 2023 season where she earned All-American honors, Mikulis had a splendid 2024 season that saw the midfielder pace the Scarlet and Black in draw controls with 61. Mikus corralled five or more draw-controls in seven different matchups this year, including three games that saw the midfielder pick up seven draw controls (vs. Ursinus April 17, vs. No. 2 Franklin & Marshall April 20, at Swarthmore April 27). The junior ranked top five on the team in goals (40), points (46), free-position goals (4), and ground balls (34). The Hopkinton, Mass. product registered three goals or more in seven separate contests this season, including a four-goal game against Ursinus on April 17 and a four-goal game against No. 2 Franklin & Marshall. 

A one-time 2024 Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week, Baumann was the anchor of a backline that ranked fourth in the Centennial Conference in defense. Ranking third in the Centennial, Baumann led Haverford in caused turnovers with 30, where the Brookline, Mass. native posted five caused turnovers against Washington College on April 3. The junior also ranked second on the team with 36 ground balls scooped, collecting at least four ground balls in three different contests (vs. Scranton March 2, at Muhlenberg March 30, and vs. Washington College on April 3). 

A stalwart along a stifling Scarlet and Black defense, Healy has earned an All Centennial Conference nod for the first time in her career. Tied for third in the Centennial, the senior captain led the Fords in ground balls with 42. Healy collected at least four ground balls in four separate games in 2024, including a season high five ground balls at Muhlenberg March 30 and against Dickinson May 1. Finishing second on the team with 28 caused turnovers, the Swarthmore, Pa. product notched three games with at least three caused turnovers or more, including a season-high five caused turnovers against Dickinson on May 1. 

Securing a Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week nod this year, Symonds had quite the rookie season for the Scarlet and Black. The first-year goalkeeper earned 10 wins in 17 total games that included 15 starts. The Emerald Hills, Calif. product recorded a 10.05 Goals Against Average, 48.1 save percentage, and 139 saves, averaging 8.18 saves per game. Symonds posted 10 saves or more in seven games this season, which included a season-high 15 saves against Dickinson in the first round of the Centennial Conference Tournament on May 1.

Gettysburg's Jordan Basso earned Centennial Conference Attacker of the Year, while Lane Lambeth of Franklin & Marshall and Caroline Sullivan of Gettysburg collected Centennial Conference Co-Midfielder of the Year. F&M's Belle Dintino took home Centennial Conference Defender of the Year, while Dickinson's Sage Whiteside collected Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year. The coaching staff at Gettysburg was tabbed Centennial Conference Coaching Staff of the Year to wrap up the 2024 Centennial Conference awards. 

In addition to the five selected to All-Conference awards, senior defender Emily Harrington earned a spot on the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship team.

No. 24 in the latest IWLCA Coaches Poll, Haverford has earned an at-large berth to the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament. The Fords (12-6), will travel to Salisbury, Md. for an NCAA First Round contest against the Cavaliers of Cabrini University (14-4), the champions of the Atlantic East Conference on Saturday.
