SCRANTON, Pa. – The Haverford College women's soccer team wrapped up non-conference play on Wednesday evening at Scranton. Although the Fords (7-5-2) outshot Scranton – a team receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Association poll – by a final tally of 16-6, the Royals (10-2-2) came away with a 3-0 win on their home turf.

Five different players had multiple shot attempts for the visiting Fords, led by three such efforts from first year Saede Eifrig. However, Scranton goalie Colleen Berry finished her night with seven saves in goal to help the Royals blank the Fords.

Haverford amassed a 9-2 advantage in shots during the opening 45 minutes, including each of the match's first four attempts. The Royals did not even attempt a shot until the 26th minute of action when Julie Hanss came up with a save. Nevertheless, Scranton was back on the attack just five minutes later as Jamie Hreniuk snuck her 11th goal of the season just under the crossbar for a 1-0 advantage at a time where Haverford held a 7-2 edge in shots.

The Fords were holding a 12-4 advantage in shots when the Royals later scored during the 66th minute. That goal came off a blast from the midfield by Katie Cullen as she found the upper left corner of goal to put her team up 2-0. Less than 10 minutes later, Erin Toburen volleyed in a cross during the 76th minute of action to cap Wednesday night's scoring.

Women's soccer will resume Centennial Conference play this Saturday as the Fords travel to Carlisle for a crucial matchup with Dickinson. The Fords and Red Devils will enter the weekend tied for the fifth and final playoff position in the Centennial Conference as both teams hold identical 4-2-1 conference records. Saturday's match is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start and will kick off after the men's matchup with Dickinson that gets underway at 4 p.m.
