HAVERFORD, Pa. - The No. 28 Haverford College women's squash team (3-7) was defeated by No. 25 Georgetown (6-7), by an 8-1 final in College Squash Association Action at the GIAC Squash Courts on Saturday.

The Fords received their individual match victory at the third flight, with Izzy Johnson taking home a four-game triumph over Julia Sachman. Johnson was appearing at the third flight for the first time this season and quickly looked calm and collected against her opponent. The senior captain turned away a first-game loss to rally back with 11-8, 11-4, and 11-7 victories to put a tally in the Haverford column in the morning match. She now has 19 total career victories at Haverford after getting into the win column for the first time this season.

Other standouts for Haverford included a strong effort from Caroline Smith at the sixth flight and Lyvia Yan at the seventh flight, as both players won the first game over their opponents from Georgetown before falling in four games. In one of the first matches of the day to finish, Catherine Fortin showed poise in an entertaining battle at the fourth flight, as her opponent Sarah Conner prevailed 15-13 in a back-and-forth third game.

Haverford will benefit from having its next two weekends at home, as the five-match homestand continues with matchups against No. 29 Denison (10:30 a.m.) and Bucknell (3:30 p.m.) on Saturday, February 5.

The home weekend comes on the heels of the Centennial Conference Round Robin on February 12, where the Fords will host No. 22 Dickinson (10:30 a.m.) and No. 18 Franklin & Marshall (3:30 p.m.).
