Women's Squash Reels in All-Academic Awards from Liberty League

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Liberty League office announced its 2023-24 winter academic teams on Thursday, with conference commissioner Tracy King making the announcement in a release this afternoon. 

In total, 83 winter sport student-athletes have qualified for the league's 2023-24 All-Academic Teams in their respective sports, marking the most for a winter season in the league's 28-year history. The previous high was 380 set in 2021-2022.

The winter championship sports, comprising men's and women's basketball, men's and women's squash, and men's and women's swimming and diving, are included. To be recognized as a member of the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30.

In total, 10 members of the Haverford women's squash team team earned the honor, with Maria Danial (Cairo, Egypt), Catherine Fortin (Ipswich, Mass.), Aman Hamdard (New York, N.Y.), Nayera Hasan (Cairo, Egypt), Maya Johnson-Fraidin (Bethesda, Md.), Emi Krishnamurthy (Westport, Conn.), Sabine Mejia (Honolulu, Hawai'i), Amy Saxon (Scarsdale, N.Y.), Ariana Solecki (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and Amelia Stevens (New York, N.Y.) all receiving the award for the Fords.

In its inaugural season in the Liberty League, Haverford had the most honorees of any conference school. Haverford and Mount Holyoke each joined the Liberty League as associate members for women's squash beginning with the 2023-24 season.
