BRYN MAWR, Pa. - The No. 36 Haverford College women's tennis team (11-6, 6-2 CC) earned a 9-0 victory over the host Owls of Bi-Co neighbor Bryn Mawr (3-10, 1-7 CC) on Wednesday afternoon on the Bryn Mawr campus. Haverford has now won six consecutive Centennial Conference matches, a streak that dates back to April 5.

The Fords looked strong from the start with three decisive doubles wins to open play. The pairing of Abbey Russano and Ellie Esterowitz easily got past Lowery West and Lilly Pfister at the second flight, taking an 8-2 win. That pairing is 7-5 this season in doubles action. The third pairing of Annie Barrett and Liv Pindzola then dispatched Fernanda Hurtado and Mary Rose Gilliand by an 8-1 final before the top-flight duo of Anne Tobin and Rachael Fitzgerald teamed up for an 8-2 win over Wynn Bryant and Kelly Cole.

With the 3-0 lead in hand for the Fords, an injury forced the Owls to default the number six singles spot, putting Haverford on the brink of clinching the match. It was Annie Barrett who did exactly that, putting the Fords just over the hurdle with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Gilliand at the fifth flight.

Summer Williams then allowed just two games in her straight-set 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Pfister at the fourth spot, and Esterowitz did the same at the third flight, allowing just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 victory over West. Mimi Lavin marked a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the second flight, dispatching Cole, and Fitzgerald then won in straightforward fashion at the first flight, 6-0, 6-1 over Wynn Bryant. The Fords allowed just four total games in singles play to breeze past the Owls.

The Fords now have just one more contest before the Centennial Conference tournament begins next week. Haverford faces a test at Gettysburg on Saturday, heading to face off with the Bullets at noon in the regular season finale.
