Women's Tennis Checks in at No. 9 in ITA Atlantic South Regional Rankings

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's tennis team earned a ranking in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Atlantic South Region team rankings, the organization announced in a release this week. The women's squad ranks ninth in the Atlantic South regional as of the March 27 release. 

In addition to Haverford's solid team rankings, junior Abbey Russano checked in at No. 15 in the Women's ITA Atlantic South Regional singles rankings. Russano has battled at the top flight this season, with a 2-6 record although five of those losses were to regionally-ranked competition. 

The doubles pairing of Russano and Rachael Fitzgerald was additionally ranked eighth in the Atlantic South, behind only the Julia Xiao/Kamila Wong pairing from Johns Hopkins among Centennial Conference duos. The pairing has gone 1-6 at the top doubles flight this season. 

Other regionally-ranked squads in the CC include No. 6 Johns Hopkins, No. 7 Swarthmore, No. 14 Washington College, No. 15 Gettysburg, and No. 18 Franklin & Marshall. 

Haverford has sprinted out to a 2-0 start to Centennial Conference play behind 9-0 sweeps of both Muhlenberg and Ursinus. The Fords will continue the CC slate on Saturday, April 1, heading to Gettysburg for a 1 p.m. first serve with the Bullets.
