HAVERFORD, Pa. - Ellie Esterowitz, a sophomore on the Haverford College women's tennis team, has qualified for the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships in Orlando, Florida as an individual qualifier. The selection for the Rockville, Maryland product marks the second consecutive year that a Haverford player has earned individual qualification, following in the footsteps of teammate Abbey Russano in 2022. Prior to Russano's selection a season ago, Haverford had not sent an individual to the national championships since Amanda Figland in 1988.

Esterowitz, a first-team All-Centennial Conference pick for singles this season, logged an impressive 2023 dual-match season, with a 12-5 record in singles play, including a 4-1 record at the first flight and an 8-4 record at the second flight. She secured victories over regionally ranked competitors such as Jay Xiao of Johns Hopkins, and climbed from third to second in the final Region III individual rankings.

Among Centennial Conference individual competitors, she joins Nathalie Williams of Swarthmore in earning qualification. Esterowitz's qualification for the individual championships was based on won-lost record, strength of schedule, and eligibility and availability of student-athletes.

The national committee selected a percentage of singles players and doubles teams from each of the eight regions, with the individual championships consisting of 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams.

The championships will take place from May 19-22 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, and are hosted jointly by the United States Tennis Association, Oglethorpe University, and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission.

The draw for the individual championship will be made by the women's tennis committee and released on Thursday, May 18 not before 1 p.m. Eastern time.
