HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford College women's tennis sophomore Ellie Esterowitz has been named a selection to the PhillySIDA Academic All-Area team, the organization announced in a release on Tuesday.

Esterowitz, of Rockville, Md. also earned a first-team All-Centennial Conference pick for singles this season. She closes out her sophomore season with a 16-8 overall record. She posted a gleaming 7-1 mark during Centennial Conference action. In doubles play, Esterowitz went 15-6 including 12-4 during the spring dual match campaign.

Also a CSC Academic All-District pick last month, Esterowitz secured crucial victories over regionally ranked competitors such as Jay Xiao of Johns Hopkins, and climbed from third to second in the final Region III individual rankings ahead of NCAA action. She also finished 20th in the final Atlantic South regional rankings revealed earlier in June.

Esterowitz represented the Fords in Orlando at the NCAA Division III Singles Championships, as she became Haverford's second consecutive representative at that event.

In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area, an athlete must be in their second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better.  The team is voted on by the sports information offices of 30 institutions in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
