Women's Tennis Earns 2023 ITA Academic Awards

TEMPE Ariz. - A total of 10 members of the Haverford College women's tennis team earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athletes following the 2022-23 season, the coaches organization announced in its annual academic award release Wednesday afternoon. 

This year's ITA Scholar-Athletes representing Haverford included Annie Barrett, Ellie Esterowitz, Rachael Fitzgerald, Mimi Lavin, Abhishree Menon, Emily Oh, Erika Phanord, Liv Pindzola, Abbey Russano, and Summer Williams. For student-athletes to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status they must be a varsity letter winner and have a grade point average of at least 3.50 during the past academic year.

The 2022-23 season also marks the 20th consecutive season that the women's tennis squad has been honored with an ITA All-Academic Team Award. In order to earn the ITA All-Academic Award, teams must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 to receive the honor.

Within the sport of tennis, student-athletes continue to exceed expectations in the classroom and on the court. In 2023, 1,204 Division III Women's student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 160 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
