HAVERFORD, Pa. - The 34th-ranked Haverford College women's tennis team (6-4, 3-0 CC) swept Gettysburg (8-3, 1-1 CC) 9-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Bramall and Marshall Courts.  The matchup was part of the Centennial Conference's week-long green out games for mental health, in collaboration with The Hidden Opponent.

The Fords got off to a hot start in doubles play, as the pairing of Rachael Fitzgerald and Emily Oh prevailed over Emma Ward and Elle Brignati, on court three by an 8-1 final in just 34 minutes, to give the Scarlet and Black the 1-0 lead.

On court one, the dynamic duo of Abbey Russano and Ellie Esterowitz proved why they were ranked eighth in the Atlantic Regional Rankings for women's doubles this past week, as the duo defeated Andrea Brazyte and Avery Palandjian 8-5. In the longest doubles match of the day, Haverford's Summer Williams and Mimi Lavin took down Gillian Rozenfeld and Sarah Guistwite 8-7 (8-6 tiebreaker), as Haverford took a commanding 3-0 lead into singles  play.

Russano earned her second win of the day, dispelling Brazyte once again, 6-1, 6-0, to hand the Fords their fourth point of the day. On court four, Fitzgerald picked up her second victory of the contest, turning away Rozenfeld 6-1, 6-1, to give Haverford the clinching fifth point. Next to Fitzgerald in flight five was her doubles partner Oh, who picked up her ninth-straight singles victory, defeating Brignati 6-1, 6-0, to remain unbeaten in singles play for the 2024 season.

Up 6-0, Abhishree Menon kept the Scarlet and Black momentum going, denying Eden Levkov 6-1, 6-2 in flight six, before Lavin collected her second win on Saturday, getting past Palandjian 6-1, 6-4, to add to the Fords lead 8-0.

On court two, Esterowitz grabbed win number two on the day, claiming the victory over Guistwite 7-5, 6-1, to wrap up the convincing 9-0 win for Haverford.

Haverford is next slated to be in action on Tuesday, April 9 as the Fords travel just up the road to Bryn Mawr, to take on the Owls. First serve is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
