No. 34 Women's Tennis Stays Undefeated in CC Play With 8-1 Triumph at Bryn Mawr

BRYN MAWR, Pa. - In a Centennial Conference and BiCo showdown at the Bryn Mawr Tennis Courts, the 34th-ranked Haverford Women's tennis team (7-4, 4-0 CC) continued its strong start to the CC slate against host Bryn Mawr (5-4, 0-3 CC) on Tuesday, securing an 8-1 victory for a fourth consecutive win in conference play.

Doubles action began with Haverford's duo of Mimi Lavin and Rachael Fitzgerald asserting their prowess early on, securing an impressive 8-1 victory over Bryn Mawr's Lowrey West and Kelli Eng. Following suit, Sriya Krishnan and Summer Williams continued Haverford's momentum, clinching another win for the Fords with a solid 8-3 victory against Kelly Cole and Gioanna Zhao. However, Bryn Mawr didn't go down without a fight, as Sophie Fenster and Fernanda Hurtado battled fiercely at the top flight, ultimately edging out a narrow victory of 8-7 (7-3 tiebreaker) against the pairing of Abhishree Menon and Emily Oh.

Transitioning to singles play, Haverford took all six matches via sweeps after taking a 2-1 lead into the break. Mimi Lavin swiftly secured a victory in the first singles flight defeating Sophie Fenster with a final score of 6-0, 6-2 to pull to 9-1 on the year in the dual match portion of the season. Rachael Fitzgerald followed suit, showcasing her skill with a dominant performance against Lowrey West, concluding with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph.

Emily Oh continued Haverford's winning streak, overpowering Kelli Eng with a score of 6-0, 6-2 to clinch the match for the Fords at the third flight. Oh has yet to be defeated in singles play so far this season, as she is currently 10-0 during the dual match season.

Annie Barrett picked up a victory for Haverford in the sixth flight, defeating Gioanna Zhao with a score of 6-1, 6-0. Barrett is now 3-0 against Centennial competition this season. Erika Phanord continued Haverford's strong singles stretch with a convincing win over Kelly Cole, prevailing with a score of 6-0, 6-1. Phanord is 6-0 on the season, including a 4-0 mark during the dual-match portion of the campaign.

The fourth court was the last to reach conclusion as Sriya Krishnan demonstrated her resilience, securing a hard-fought victory against Fernanda Hurtado with a score of 6-2, 6-4. Krishnan is now 6-1 in singles this season, including a 4-0 stretch during the dual-match portion.

Overall, it was a strong team effort from the Fords, who are 4-0 to start Centennial Conference play for the second consecutive season. The Fords will look to build on their success as they continue their conference play on Saturday against No. 10 Johns Hopkins at the Marshall/Bramall Courts on the Haverford campus. The match is slated for a 10:30 a.m. opening serve.
