COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Haverford College women's track and field team returned to competition with a trip to Ursinus for the Collegeville Classic on Saturday. The Fords walked away from the meet with a fourth place finish out of 12 teams competing in the annual meet.

In the field events, Alice Creed couldn't better her career-best clearance of 2.90 from the TCNJ Invite, but she took home the event win in the pole vault with a winning clearance of 2.75 meters. It has now been three straight meets that she has cleared 2.75 meters or better as she has broken into the Haverford top 10 in the event.

Haverford only had one athlete in the women's 5000 meter run as First year Krysta Nichols finished fifth in the race with a time of 19:52.77. In the mile, it was Katie Hirsche who was the top finisher for the Fords, earning second place in her indoor track debut. Hirsche ran the eight-lap race in 5:19.38. However, she wasn't the only Fords finisher in the event. Angie Petrichenko, the reigning Centennial Conference Track Athlete of the Week, finished just behind her for third place, running 5:20.40. The remaining Haverford athletes, Dominique Monroy (5:46.30) and Annemarie Wood (6:14.70) also had solid performances in the tune-up.

As the lone sprinter in the 60 meter dash, senior Naomi Fukuda ran 8.59 seconds, finishing second in her preliminary heat. Her time ranked sixth heading into the finals. In the finals, Fukuda clocked the exact same time to finish seventh overall.

Seven Fords competed in the 800 meter run. Isabel Thornberry and Lauren Tanel both finished in the top four of the event. Thornberry earned a third place finish with a time of 2:27.34 with Tanel right behind her in fourth place, running 2:29.34. Haverford also received good running from Rachel November, who finished seventh with a time of 2:32.84. Ella Fleming (2:41.36), Hedy Goodman (2:48.33), Maya Holmes (2:51.02), and Selena She (2:52.88) also provided respectable runs for the Fords in the event.

In the 200 meter dash, junior Jahsaiah Moses finished fifth, crossing the line in 27.78, just 0.18 off of her indoor personal best. Rounding out the competition for the Fords was the 4x400 relay squad. The team finished the event in second place, with the four-person team crossing the finish line in 4:17.34.

Women's Track & Field next hosts a home meet as they compete in the McElligott Invitational on Saturday, January 29, 2022 inside Alumni Field House. Action on the day is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
