D’Aulerio Racks Up Two CC Honors, Thornberry Named All-Sportsmanship

Haverford College sophomore Olivia D'Aulerio has been named First-Team All-Centennial Conference in the 400 meter dash, as well as earning an Honorable Mention in 200 meters, the conference office announced in a release on Thursday morning. Additionally, senior Isabel Thornberry was named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship team.

After committing a false start in the 400 meters at the 2023 Centennial Conference Championships, Olivia D'Aulerio had had the ultimate revenge in the 400 meters at the 2024 Centennial Conference Championships, by darting to a new personal record time of 58.38 to take home the gold medal. The first-place finish also gave Haverford a pivotal 10 points in the Centennial Conference Championship scoreboard..The Chesterfield, N.J. native managed to tie the record for the fastest time in the 400 meters in school history, which she currently shares with Christina Neilson '11, who achieved the record in on February 26, 2011.

After her historic run in the 400 meters, D'Aulerio picked up an Honorable Mention nod in 200 meter dash, after sprinting  to a time of 26.21 to grab bronze in the event, and posting six more crucial points to the Scarlet and Black's total overall score. After bolstering the Fords in the 4x800 meter relay on day one, the The Hun School of Princeton product provided a clutch anchor leg to push the Scarlet and Black into a third-place finish.

The honors are the first two end of the season honors of D'Aulerio's indoor career, after claiming a Centennial Conference Track Athlete of the Week award and being named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic team in 2023. 

The Sophomore hit the ground running in the 2023 outdoor track season, as she earned Honorable Mention All-Centennial Conference in the 400 meters and Second-team All-Centennial Conference in the 4X400 meter relay. D'Aulerio was named the Centennial Conference 2023 Rookie of the Year, as well as being named to the USTFCCCA All-Metro Region team in the 4X400 meter relay, and the USTFCCCA All-Academic team.

Thornberry was key all season for the Fords, as the Louisville, Colorado native claimed Centennial Conference Track Athlete of the Week on February 19, 2024, after taking home first place in the 400 meters and being part of the winning 4x400 meter relay team at the Keogh Invitational. An Honorable Mention All-Centennial selection in the 400 meters in 2022, the Fairview High School product notched a USTFCCCA All-Region nod in the 4X400 relay just two seasons ago. 

The 2024 Honorable Mention distinction is Thornberry's first end of the season award earned since being named to the PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Team in 2023.

You can catch D'Aulerio next at the Tufts National Qualifying Meet in Medford, Mass. on March 2.  The meet will be the final chance for the Fords to qualify for the NCAA Championships held March 8 in Virginia Beach, Va. The top 20 declared athletes in individual events and the top 12 relays are selected for the NCAA championships.
