2023 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award Honor Roll
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Haverford College volleyball team has once again earned the USMC/American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2022-23 academic year, taking home the honor for the 11th consecutive season.
Additionally, Haverford was named a Team Academic Honor Roll school, an honor bestowed upon the top 20 percent of team GPAs from each division and representing the highest scholarly achievement in the sport of volleyball.
The Fords were one 1,332 programs to garner the team academic award on Monday afternoon. The total of 1,332 includes men's and women's indoor programs from the three NCAA divisions, the NAIA, USCAA, two-year colleges, and high schools as well as women's beach volleyball programs.
The AVCA Academic Team Award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.
Haverford was one of just 46 Division III women's programs to be named to the aforementioned Team Academic Honor Roll designation, joining Johns Hopkins and Swarthmore from the Centennial Conference.
Volleyball will begin the 2023 season on Friday, September 1 with the Haverford Invitational inside Gooding Arena. The full schedule is slated to be released later this month.
