Women’s Cross Country Jumps up to No. 7 in the Metro Regional Rankings

Full Metro Region Rankings Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College Women's Cross Country team leaped to the No. 7 ranking in the latest release of the Division III Women's Cross Country Metro Region rankings,, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced earlier this week.

The Fords are coming off an impressive Centennial Conference Championship meet, where they placed fourth. The fantastic finish saw the Scarlet and Black outpace Metro Region foes Ursinus (fifth place), Swarthmore (sixth place), and Bryn Mawr (seventh place).

The Fords, who were not ranked last week, were able to hurdle over the lone Centennial Conference school in the Metro Rankings, Ursinus, who fell two spots to No. 9 in the region.

There was movement within the top three schools in the Metro, as the two NJAC schools in Stockton and Rowan traded places, with the Ospreys now sitting in second and the Profs falling to number four. TCNJ still holds the crown as the number one ranked school in the Metro, with Widener rounding out the top three, staying in third.

Haverford Women's Cross Country has had a notable week, as first-year runner Alice Sappenfield earned the Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year award announced on November 2.

The Fords now have their eyes set on the NCAA Metro Region Championship on November 11, at DREAM Park located in Logan Township N.J. The regional race will feature seven individual entrants from each team with the top squad earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
