Full Centennial Conference Release
HAVERFORD, Pa. – The 2017 Centennial Conference spring academic awards were announced on Thursday afternoon and Haverford junior James Stadler was named the Men's Outdoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Stadler, a Mathematics major from Belmont, Mass., recently picked up Honorable Mention All-Centennial designation after finishing third in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:33.55.
The junior set new personal-best times in the 1500m, 5000m and 3,000m steeplechase this season and was named to his third straight Centennial Conference academic honor roll.
Stadler is the younger brother of Chris Stadler '14, who captured two NCAA titles and eight All-America certificates during his time at Haverford and was both a Scholar Athlete of the Year and a Centennial Conference Performer of the Year.
Additionally, Alex Frost was named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team. Frost, a senior sprinter, is an Ambler Scholar Athlete and a three-time Centennial Conference academic honor roll honoree. During his time at Haverford, Frost captured three indoor titles in relay action.
Haverford will now head to the final last chance of the season, at Widener University on Thursday afternoon. Qualified entries for the NCAA National Championships at Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio will be announced on Saturday pending the results of the final qualifying meets taking place throughout the nation this week.
