Haverford Ranks 20th in Division III during Latest Learfield Cup Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Carrying overs its success from the fall, the Haverford College Athletic Department continues to rank first among its Centennial Conference peers and 20th throughout all Division III institutions in the first winter release of the 2015-16 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup.

The Fords have amassed 268 points to date. The most recent additions came courtesy of five All-American performances during the indoor track & field season. Those individual accolades garnered 80.5 points.

Men's indoor track & field earned 44.5 points as the Fords finished tied for 28th at the national meet. Haverford's national championship was highlighted by a second-place performance from Charlie Marquardt in the mile. The Fords also qualified a distance medley relay team who placed 11th in the championship race.

The women's indoor track & field team qualified a relay for the first time in the program's history. In its NCAA debut, the Fords' distance medley relay finished in third place overall. The team of Amelia Keyser-Gibson, Kerry Quigley, Katie Sullivan, and Nora Weathers each earned All-America certificates. The Fords finished tied for 35th overall and added 36 team points to Haverford's total.

Topping the Centennial Conference, Haverford has earned 23 more points than its closest competitor in Johns Hopkins. The Blue Jays rank 24th overall in the Learfield Cup. Six teams overall from the Centennial Conference are ranked among the top 100 in Division III.

During the fall, the Fords sent three teams to their respective NCAA Championships and accumulated 187.5 points with those postseason finishes. Haverford's best finish in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup came during the 2013-14 academic year when the varsity sports amassed 405.13 points for a 35th place finish.
