Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College Athletic Department continued to rank second in the Centennial Conference and was 23rd among all Division III schools in the second fall release of the 2016-17 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup. Haverford finishes the fall with a total of 157 points after men's soccer was added to the second release.

Haverford's point total represents the fourth highest mark for a fall season in school history. Only during the fall of 2012 (225.5 points), 2015 (187.5 points), and 2007 (176 points) did the Fords have a higher point total at this time in the year.

The men's soccer team earned 50 points after it was credited for a 17th place finish following an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Hosting an NCAA Regional round for the second straight season, the Centennial Conference Champions bested Merchant Marine by a 5-1 score before falling to UMass Boston in penalty kicks. The team finished the year ranked 18th in the final NSCAA poll.

Previous scoring teams from the fall:

Men's cross country earned 56 points for an 18th place finish at the NCAA Championship. Haverford was led in that meet by junior Henry Woods who garnered All-America honors with his 22nd place finish. The Fords were making their 24th straight appearance at the NCAA Championship as a team.

Women's cross country bested its spot in the national rankings by nine positions to place 23rd at the national meet. That performance earned the Fords an additional 51 points in the standings. One the women's side, Haverford was making its seventh trip to the NCAA Championship in the past eight seasons.
