Fords Pick Up CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Selections

Full CSC Academic All-District Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - In total, 10 Haverford student-athletes have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District At-Large Squads, the organization announced in a release on Tuesday afternoon. 

On the women's at-large squad, field hockey players Olivia Ahart and Anna Bradley joined women's lacrosse players Sam Silverman and Tiffany Mikulis and women's fencer Megan Heflinger in earning a spot on the team.On the men's side, lacrosse players Jacob Abraham, Jason Borsari, James Surgenor, and Nate Rose joined fencer Daniel Carvalho in garnering the plaudit. 

Ahart, a Moorestown, N.J. product, earned first-team All-Centennial honors after building off a standout 2021 season with another strong campaign that saw her help to anchor a young squad on both sides of the ball. Ahart finished with a pair of goals and a pair of assists, including a game-winning tally at home against Muhlenberg on October 12. She is the program's 16th first-team All-CC selection overall.

Bradley, of Carlsbad, Calif. appeared in 18 games last season, starting all of them, notching three goals and an assist en route to a third consecutive NFHCA Scholar of Distinction recognition. The chemistry major tallied in a 4-0 win at Eastern (Sept. 3), and also scored in back-to-back contests later that month, lighting the lamp against Elizabethtown (Sept. 14) and Rowan (Sept. 17). She also added an assist on Naomi York's game-winning goal late in the fourth quarter against DeSales (October 17).

Mikulis, of Hopkinton, Mass. was a force to be reckoned with, as she is Haverford's single-season draw control leader (91) and ranked within the top five in the conference for goals (63), points (74), ground balls (47), shots on goal (82), and free-position goals (13). Last week, Mikulis was recognized with a third-team USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America selection.

Silverman, of Catonsville, Md. ranked in the top five in the conference for goals (50), assists (33), and free-position goals (13). Against Washington College on April 5, she couldn't be stopped as couldn't be she led the Fords with seven goals and six assists, establishing the new program record with 13 total points, eclipsing the previous record of 11 which was set by Allie Gibbons during the 2018 campaign.

Heflinger, a senior sabreist from San Diego, was named to the EWFC All-Academic team in 2022-23, an award that is designated to salute fencers who have stood out in both the classroom and on the fencing strips. Heflinger is also an Ambler Scholar Athlete, a designation given to the Top 15 senior student-athletes by GPA at Haverford College. Heflinger anchored the sabre squad at the EWFC Championships, qualifying for the individual bouts in the event that culminates the regular season slate for the Fords.


Abraham, of Tarrytown, N.Y.,  proved to be a vaunted presence in goal, with his name resonating throughout the conference landscape. Starting all 8 conference  games, he logged 141 saves, the most in the Centennial Conference, and finished fifth with a 58.8 save percentage. In upset victories over No. 19 Ursinus and No. 19 Muhlenberg in April, Abraham starred for men's lacrosse, stopping 17 shots against the Bears before adding a career-best 26 stoppages in a 9-5 win over the Mules. Abraham was named the CC Defensive Player of the Week after the Ursinus victory.

Borsari, of Brewster, N.Y. was a versatile defender for Haverford, starting all 15 games while logging 10 caused turnovers and 32 ground balls. He also added four goals and an assist on the year, and occasionally chipped in at the faceoff X, with seven wins in 18 attempts.

Rose, of Glenside, Pa. added to his award haul yet again with another academic plaudit this season. Haverford's Ambler Award and Haddleton Award winner played in 14 of 15 contests and scored three goals, scooped 27 ground balls, and caused eight turnovers.He had three or more ground balls in five contests.

Surgenor, of Meriden, N.H. was honored after a second consecutive Centennial Conference Honor Roll appearance. He played in all 15 contests, collecting eight ground balls, causing five turnovers and notching two shots on goal.

Carvalho, of Watertown, Mass, , was a second-team All-MACFA selection this season in epee, while helping his Haverford squad to a seventh place finish at the MACFA championships. In his direct elimination bout in the individual draw at the MACFA meet, he knocked off the top epeeist from Division I NJIT.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must have completed one full calendar year at their institution, be a starter or important reserve playing a minimum of 50% of contests and maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).

These 10 Haverford selections will now be placed on the national ballot for CSC Academic All-America consideration next month.
