HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College women’s track & field has been named a 2013-14 All-Academic Team as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). This marks the eighth time in the past nine seasons the Fords have earned this honor since the association combined the indoor and outdoor season into one award.

Haverford was one of 158 women’s teams across NCAA Division III that earned a team GPA of 3.10 or higher. Leading the way in academic honors is nothing new to the Fords as they had the most student-athletes recognized on the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll during the indoor track & field season for that respective sport.

In addition to the team recognition, Hope Rainey was also honored as a USTFCCCA Scholar Athlete. To qualify for this honor, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30. The student-athlete must also have competed in either the indoor or outdoor NCAA track championships or finished a season ranked in the top 35 nationally in an individual event or top 25 in a relay event.

Joining the track team for the outdoor season after helping guide women’s basketball to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history, Rainey was a national qualifier in the steeplechase after setting the school record in that event during her Centennial Conference championship run.
