LANCASTER, Pa. – Friday afternoon's gem of an outing helped land Haverford College freshman right-handed pitcher Tommy Bergjans the Centennial Conference pitcher of the week honor, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Bergjans shut down host Swarthmore College in the Fords' 9-1 conference win, scattering four hits and a pair of walks while fanning 10 over seven innings of shutout work.

Only one Garnet base runner moved past second base during Bergjans' work on the mound. He struck out two in the both the first and second innings before striking out the side in the third.

Bergjans faced 28 Swarthmore batters who mustered up a measly .158 batting average against the Fords' righty.
