HAVERFORD, Pa. - The list of postseason honors continues to grow for Haverford College's Tommy Bergjans as the junior pitcher was named a first-team All-American by both the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and D3baseball.com.

Bergjans, the Centennial Conference pitcher of the year, led the Fords with program-record marks in wins (nine) and strikeouts (96) in 2014. The right-hander ranked among the Division III national leaders in hits allowed per nine innings (second, 4.58), strikeouts (third, 96), strikeouts per nine innings (seventh, 11.57), ERA (ninth, 1.08), victories (10th, nine) and WHIP (14th, 0.88).

Bergjans became the all-time career leader in strikeouts during a 3-0 victory over Dickinson College on April 13. The junior reached another milestone on May 4 when he delivered six innings of shutout relief work against Gettysburg College in the marathon 12-inning conference championship game that resulted in Bergjans' program-record 21st career victory.

Bergjans limited opposing batters to a .148 average and allowed just 12 extra-base hits in 74.2 innings of work in 2014. A consistently dominant force on the mound, Bergjans struck out eight or more batters in eight of his 10 starts.

In just three seasons at Haverford, Bergjans already owns multiple school records.
