ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - The Haverford College baseball team was defeated on the road by the Eastern Eagles on Tuesday afternoon. The Fords were able to shut Eastern out for four innings, but ultimately fell 6-1.

Designated hitter Nick Ott provided Haverford's offense, blasting a solo homer in the top of the sixth inning. It was the senior's second home run of the season. He also hit one against Illinois College in the Gene Cusic Classic in Florida. Ott finished the game 2-for-3 with a single and a walk. The two hits raised his season average up to .381.

Matt Goss, Ben Furlong, and Thomas Vollaro also had hits in the contest.

Grant Finn got the nod at pitcher for Haverford. The right-handed senior lasted six innings, allowing three earned runs and striking out three in his third start of the season.

Jared Deveau pitched an inning and a third of scoreless baseball in relief.

Haverford will travel to play TCNJ on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. It will be the Fords' final non-conference game before Centennial Conference action starts with a doubleheader at Johns Hopkins on Saturday.
